Maria’s garden had plenty of potential to create a space where each member of this large family would feel happy and comfortable. We identified the key objectives, primarily being that it had to be safe for children, but also welcoming and comfortable for large gatherings and family celebrations and provide easy access to and from the house. The latter was originally nearly impossible as the garden was at different levels and sloping significantly.
Maria was initially concerned that building a large patio will impact the size of the garden. The results showed that it was an unnecessary concern – the platform with the pergola made a natural connection between the house and the garden. The platform was raised to the height of the house with the lower garden being accessed now by wide and comfortable stairs. Raising the platform gave outstanding results and parts of the garden that were previously never really used have now become relaxation spot favourites!
The patio, with the lounge area and the barbeque is now specious enough to host large gatherings, but at the same time, its design ensures that it can be easily shared by the family and each member can enjoy their own intimate space. The colour of the patio also seamlessly matches the colour of the window frames. Using a charcoal colour instead of a traditional natural wood tone added a touch of modernity and adventure that matches the overall look and feel of the design.
Also, using composite materials means that her children are safe, as there is no risk of splinters that could cause injury if trodden on barefooted.
“A professional finish that would grace any garden magazine!”
Many thanks for a job very well done and for your prompt and efficient service. Extremely hardworking and diligent and a professional finish that would grace any garden magazine. I have employed many builders and landscapers for various jobs but London Decking surpass them all.
